Does nitrogen help in any way when welding steel pipe for use with *****??

Nitrogen is used to reduce oxides forming and carbon (the black stuff) forming inside the pipe.
so in short for ***** yes. Otherwise these fine contaminants would be detrimental to the system once running.

In Spain, some companies weld without nitrogen, and then flush the pipes with R22, in a close circuit and eliminate this way the oxides and solid particles.
So they save the use of nitrogen. The pipes are perfectly cleaned afterwards, and they save some money.

Yes they can, a number of domestic fridges are piped with alli.

Steel pipe should be pickled or cleaned before use if using any amount.

Steel to steel welding and nitrogen streaming from memory is a no no. Some sort of stress fracturing or something similar. Remember getting ear chewed for suggesting it years ago.

all car AC condensers are aluminum tube only and even the Carrier air cooled chillers are with aluminum tubes condenser for some of their latest models

Hi,

Steel pipes and alluminium can surely work for ***** applications and it is a good practice to use nitrogen during welding. Argon is not used to flash pipes during welding. No it is just a shielding gas for a special type of welding called TIG welding. TIG welding finds very serious use on you NH3 and CO2 plant installations. I hope my contribution makes sense to you.
