i have been now trying to get in this trade for 3 years now

year1: went through training 2000 sent letters went to see directors = nothing

year2: decided cant have another year of nothing so went to MANCAT to study the 6127 and completed the 2178, sent letters again same disappointment and frustration of being declined EVERYWHERE, but did get two weeks with an engineer last June absolutely loved it and thought this is it im in as i have been offering myself to work for free for 6months to get the experience and build a portfolio to get the NVQ which i really want and need. but soon my dreams were ruined as their new apprentice (family member) started and couldnt take me out anymore

year3: now in year3 have the basic qualifications (6127, 2178 full UK licence) still offering myself for free to work also now im with building engineering services training (BEST) breezed through their test and they think i have a good chance , but that's what training 2000 said years ago!i will start sending letters out again and phone calls this week ... just wanting to know whether the market is better this year?

is everybody busier then the previous two gloomy years?
are companies recruiting?

Well best of luck mate.

I know that Space were after technicians since they took on the Tesco contract. Not sure who does it in Preston but maybe worth a punt.

I left an AC firm for WR when they took on Tesco's. Seems they couldn't get techs quick enough. Out of it now and glad but I did pick a lot of experience.

Prepare to be thrown in at the deep end if you make it!

Good luck,

Andy.
