I have read many information and papers about the loss of performance of an ammonia refrigeration system when it is contaminated with water.
But what does really happen with the compressors oil?.
There are not too much information but according with the chemical involved the compressor oil should emulsify.
What really happen? What color become the oil? Any other information
I appreciate your comments

I've personally never seen it affect oil. The ammonia likes the oil entirely too much to let it go off into the oil.

Water will get into the system on suction side as water vapor. Majority of this water will condense in low pressure receiver. Temperature of oil in screw compressor oil separator is 170-180F. Why the water should condense in the compressor?
