View Full Version : Chiller Coils
Hi All,
Is it possible to convert an existing CFC refrigerant coil to water chiller coil......i.e, water through tube rather than R404A refrigerant?
Any thoughts/suggestions?

Clean the oil from the tubes and you can run what you like through, just don't change your mind and try to go back to refrigerant. ;)
The duty will probably change though.

Hi
as said this might be possible, but your pressure drop will be entirley different, this could cause problems!:)
i dont think i would start an adventure like this!
thats a good point Goshen........any other thoughts of small modifications on U-bends to the circuit etc ........?
cheers

A DX coil will have a distributor and/or orifice plus circuiting for refrigerants. A coil circuited for water will be different.
