Freezer compartment not freezing

My tenants tell me that the Beko CDA543F is not freezing the freezer compartment but the refridgerator compartment is cooling - maybe even cooler than usual. Is there something they should check before I arrange a service call ?
Seems like the compressor is ok,its about 3-4 years old and the same tenants have been there for at least 2 years.
Sadly I live 120 miles away so can't feasibly make any checks myself.

Is there frost forming on back panel of freezer? If so its probably a faulty defrost timer

could be a bad defrost heater, also

Does this unit have a fan in the freezer compartment? i have had this problem before on a fridge/freezer & found the fan not working.
