Hi Guy's
Can anyone give me a pointer to a an EEC code of practice for the installation of air curtains and the required airflows for various applications.
I am compiling a code of practice for air curtain velocities for various types of projects, meat prep plants, food outs, cafes, deli's, supermarkets etc. here in Australia.
Does any one know if peter cooper of Addtech who designed most of sainsburys ref/air projects put out a sepcification for air curtain applications.
Is there an EEC guide regulation?.
Thanks

Hi Tony

I'm not aware of ant EEC regulation but we tend to use these people. http://www.thermoscreens.com/

Why don't you contact them and ask the question?

I have conducted some research in this area and the only thing I have found for specifying air curtain velocities is a model by Hayes and Stoecker in 1969 "Design data for air curtains" Transactions of the ASHRAE Report 2121. This model defines a way of predicting the minimum jet velocity to acheive a continuous air curtain across the entrance. A safety factor is then multiplied to the velocity to give a more relaible air curtain velocity. For the air curtain I measured a safety factor of at least 2 is required.
