Hi everyone,

I got a YORK air conditioner (2 year old) model YJCA-YJHA R22 (50 Hz), which refuse to start his condensing unit/compressor... no more cooling... after 2 mins the temperature display panel of the air cooler shows "F6". I got explanation from the Installation & Owner's manual.

Thanks in advance for your help & time.

Hi Jean.
Welcome to the forum.
Please refer to the attached pdf.
You will see that fault F6 refers to( PG motor fault).
This is the Fan Motor.

Hi Grizzly, Thanks for your quick reply and attached document, much appreciated.

Is it the fan motor of the indoor or outdoor unit which is faulty?

Indoor.

often it is the RPM sensor of the fan motor that causes these faults in splits... sometimes also you will find dirty contacts on the connectors going to the fan motor or if the filters have been left to get clogged the fan will spin up too quickly and issue a fault to the controller...

make sure the filters and coils are clear of any debris and that the fan wheel can spin freely..

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for replying.

I found the indoor fan badly clogged with dirt, filters were ok. I dismantled the CPU + AC motor, cleaned the fan throughout.

Before putting back everything together, I am now testing the AC motor (not coupled to fan) but no spin so far... I check for voltage on the motor pins (Black-White & Black-Red got 210V).

Not sure how to test the grey-yellow-brown small wires which should be for speed control I presume.

Remote control and other electronic such as relay seem ok.

Where is this RPM sensor? how to test it?

PS: I attached a pic of the AC motor and CPU card if it can help...

I have the same problem with mine. I pulled the front panel off the evaporator and hit the little black reset switch on the circuit board. Fan then started to work, fan on condenser also came on but compressor isn't starting up. Its shot. Might be worth checking your compressor Jean.

HI ,

Could anyone help with error code on York HEKB18FS-AAA? M/W split unit.
The unit runs for about 30 seconds then shuts down. The Timer & Pre Defrost LED's are flashing.

Thanks Jason
