Hi all, just wanted to quickly introduce myself on the forum. I've been working as an electrical service engineer in the Middle east for the past 5 years and recently moved back to the UK. Passed the C&G 2079-11 course but RAC is all fairly new to me.

I recently had an enquiry to service some RAC equipment in Sub-Sahara Africa where our client has possibly mixed the refrigerant in an AC system (added R22 to a system charged with R417a). I've advised that the gas in the system will have to be recovered and destroyed and the system charged with the correct refrigerant. I'm assuming that there will be no such facilities to destroy the contaminated refrigerant in Sub-Sahara Africa and wondered if there would be any issues sending recovery cylinders from the UK, recovering the contaminated gas and sending it back to the UK for destruction?

I know the F Gas regulations aren't applicable over there but I want to make sure that the contaminated refrigerant gas is disposed of properly.

Any advice appreciated.

Provided it's packaged and labelled properly it should not be a problem.
