I have a 22x16x13 high room with 4in. insulated panels, how do I figure out , how big of a system do I need to put in , in order to maintain 28F or -2C in the room ????

Room size is in feet, product in at 34F, heat gain? whatever evaporator fans generate.


Ask a refrigeration specialist to give you a quote for it.

The ones I know are nothing but a bunch of crooks, I need to do my homework before I start getting quotes.

You need to know first your design conditions and calculations of heat loads (wall/ceiling/floor loads, air change load, miscelanneous loads like motors,lights,etc. and the most important the Product load.) As an estimate you can add all these loads and I suggest you use the BTU/hr unit and multiply a safety load factor of 1.15.

O.K., you want to know the tonnage required in order to keep your contractor honest?

If I may offer some advice, focus your efforts on finding a reputable contractor and let them focus on the requirements of your walk-in.

It sounds like you've had problems with all the "crooks" you have dealt with in the past.

Negotiate a contract, back off and let them do the work, (without you looking over their shoulder),
inspect job upon completion, pay the man.

Come on chap, what if pull down time is 2 hours?
Is it then still be in region of 7,5kW....ishhhhh?:eek:
Sorry if I sound rude but, I think that such prediction like your is just that what makes him to beleive that there are to many crooks in this business area.

I believe you nike123, their references are basically for Airconditioning systems only. Refrigeration cold room design is a different scenario.
