Remote fitted condensing unit

Hi Everyone.
If the condensing unit of a refrigeration system is remote fitted, how is it accounted in component selection?. For example a walk-in cold room with heat load of, say 4000 BTUH, has to be constructed either with the condensing unit attached to it or the unit 10 m (32.8 ft) away. If the condensing unit is away will it use the same condensing unit as that of the first case? Or how is it selected.

Hi there,

The distance between components is used to size the pipes. With the correct length of the pipes and its fittings the pipe size must be calculated for pressure drop and oil return to the compressor.

The size of the condenser will not change unless you have much higher or lower temperatures outside than inside.

As previous posters already said, size is not dependent on distance, it depend on conditions of air which is around condenser.
If your condenser is designed for indoor usage with temperatures from 10°C to 30°C it cannot be used for outdoor where temperatures are from -5°C to 45°C or more.

Thank you for your prompt response. So from your rplies what I understand is, as far as ambient air condition is not changed, no need to change the condensing unit, for a remote fitted unit. Only thing the pipe line sould be sized in such a way that the total pressure loss should be in the permissible limit of design conditions. Am I correct?
