View Full Version : hot water outlet position in water tank?

I find the hot water outlet is alway in the upper of water tank while cold water inlet in the lower. why?

I am just involved in air source heat pump industry, pls kindly help me out with this question. And any friend can suggest some web or info. of learning air source heat pump. Many thanks!!

Hi simple physics,heat rises cold drops!!;)
ask dr google about hetpumps and u will have plenty of info.

Not too much info about tis on web. Try thermosyphon effect, basicly hot water rises in the centre and to the top (when colder outside). Also check out paper capacitor for design geometrics, then maxima/minaima calculus give about 1 x dia to 2 height (for a cylender). Now that's given all the secrets away - good luck and let us know how you go.

If this is a HWHP, with integrated storage tank, then the condenser coils are mounted on the outside of the tank. The hottest temperatures are at the top of the coil, closest to compressor discharge i.e. at the top of the tank.
