I have Hotpoint Mistral fridge freeze which does not seem to have the usual warm fridge only problem, both the fridge AND freezer are at room temperature. The compressor is running all the time and I can feel normal heat from it. I removed the freezer back panel and I can feel the top of the evaporator at the inlet pipe is cold but not the rest of the evaporator. Is it lacking gas or is there a sensor that needs to be changed ? I see a green connector sensor that is attached to the front of the insulation and a yellow connector that has a lead that goes behind the evaporator, I pulled off this yellow connector and the freezer fan started up. I transported this fridge over a long distance if that is relevant. Any help appreciated because I have no fridge currently !

Probably capillary clogged or refrigerant leak!
Your fridge need attention of refrigeration service engineer

The cost of calling out a specialist is more than the fridge is worth, is there any suggestion of what I can do myself ? Coiuld it need a sensor replacement ?

I didn't mention but it was transported on its back for several hours then left vertical for 14 hours before switching on.

Since your FF is running non stop and you dont have proper refrigeration effect, that problem is not related to sensor. It is related to refrigeration circuit.
You cannot do anything without specialist tools and knowledge.

OK thanks, I will leave it a few more days and then if it does not work I will have to take it to the dump unfortunately. Call out charges are just too expensive

Yes I understand your point but it is an old fridge and I would prefer to buy a more modern used one for a lot less than new.

This was a cheap fridge that I need for a while but has not worked out, but I don't think this model merits spending more money on, presumably there are good used fridges for sale. I will look out for a Bosch,
