1) What sort of time would you expect for pressure to equalise on a domestic refrigeration cabinet?

2) Is there a minimum time after having vac'ed out a system that you should leave your vacuum gauge before you are happy there is no loss of vacuum?

3) I have seen a piece of literature that related to an AC unit on a bus or coach, I believe. It said about vac'ing to at least 500 Microns (I don't have a micron gauge, just a vacuum gauge in mBars) & leaving for 5 mins & if it doesn't rise by a further 500 microns from when the vac pump is switched off, the system is ok. Does this also apply to domestic refrigeration & if so, how can I translate 500 microns into Mbar?

Thanks again guys.

3)
You need to use electronic vacuum gauge to clearly see this difference and dedicated (special) hoses which don't leak since regular service hoses are not designed to keep pressure from outside (or use copper pipes instead of hoses) and may lead you to wrong conclusions that system is leaky or moisture is present.

1 micron = 0,001333223684 mbar

This should answer all your questions about vacuum drying/evacuation.
