cheers nike123 as this is what i thought, so next question is, is the strainer round the wrong way bearing in mind that it is on the liquid line as to me its round the wrong way??

That line is bidirectional since this is heat pump!
In heating mode it is correctly oriented and protect capillary and 4 Way valve from clogging.
Sometimes it is another strainer on bigger diameter line coming from indoor unit or somewhere else in circuit with same task of protecting capillary tube and 4-way valve . In indoor unit it does not have to protect anything from clogging, therefore it could be oriented like that.

Apologies for not coming back to this.

Just to resurrect this and finalise. I received a new strainer and the arrow was pointing the same way, how odd, to me anyway.
As this was a new one I did not question it.
This unit also had an indoor coil that was leaking. Replaced and working ok.

Still find it odd the arrow pointing in the opposite direction of flow..

Maybe it means this way up.

Anyway, thanks for updating this thread.

It's strange that the liquid line comes from the middle of a condensing coil. I see why nike123 thought it was a heat pump.
