I am a new member, I have enjoyed reading the forums, so I decided to join your refrigeration family.

I have a small problem with a split system that I am installing for a client. This air conditioner is a used unit.
The problem that I am having trouble solving is that the condenser fan on the condensing unit will not close down. When the room temperature is reached and the compressor closes down the condenser fan continues to operate. Every thing else seems to be working ok.
The Unit is an LG split system Model LV-B 2460 HS.
I would be grateful if some one can make some suggestions.
Regards Aussie

Or the relay is stuck on the pc board.

i think with those units, the condenser fan motor is switched via the indoor printed circuit board. Sounds like th relay iss latched on the indoor board.

Had a similar problem with an LG split a few years ago, the fan relay contacts were fused. When i rang for a replacement, the supplier said that it was a common fault on that unit, too long ago to remember the model no. though..

Can u check the wiring diag Aussie to see where fan is powered from ?

Does the outdoor fan run all the time, like if you left the unit unpowered for a while, then switched the power back on, does the outdoor fan start straight away? (possible miswiring or fully welded relay contacts - check the relay contacts on the PCB solder points to see if they are a closed circuit as it should be normally open, and recheck your wiring).
If not, if you switched it to cooling and ran it for a few minutes and switched it off, does the fan stop? (if so possible sticking relay that only sticks when running for a few hours).

I would say troubleshoot/replace the relay first, but being it's an LG, the indoor PCB is only going to be about $60 as LG parts are so cheap, so just get a new indoor PCB if it seems the PCB mounted relay is playing up.
