if i have a existing evaporator and the condensing unit is knackered how would i go about selecting a new condensing unit?

it a 1.5hp / 1.1kw is this enough to match with?

Measure the old one.
Measure the pipes and length and measure the height...
There you are you have the same ...

Talk to your local wholesaler with a model and serial of the condensing unit or specifications on your system. They will be able to find you exactly what you are looking for

They (salesmans)will be able to sell you what they have on stock.
You must know what you need.

match the unit to the evaporator capacity(kw or btu etc) at what designed suction temperature,refrigerant and condensing ambient temperature,this will put you in the ball park
