same old same old.. but i have a frigrite copeland
rack that is losing oil from its seperator after a week or so..
compressors have trax oil control..oil line to them is warm/hot..
system has heat reclaim and i fear the 3 way valve may be leaking, logging oil in heat coil. reason i say this is when i power 3 way s/v coil the oil returns...
but also suspect sep faulty due to hot return line..
any ideas???

The seperator will only return the oil that is inside it.
If there is no oil and it is passing that could mean that the float
valve in the bottom is jammed open and passing?? That may be
your problem but I would look to a few other things as well.

1st check each comp for oil return because if one of the comps is
passing oil it will flush all the oil out.

2nd check the heating coil and perhaps isolate it for a few days if
possible to prove if it is that.

If the heating coil valve is faulty (passing) you need to look at r
eplaceing / repairing it or if it is ok you need to look at a way to
get the oil back.

Go back to basics.

How old is the system and has it worked ok till now?
If yes then look for the common denominator that links the faults together.

i would check that you dont have any nrv's passing on a compressor, as what can happen when compressor cut's of, the discharge presure comes back through and lifts out all the oil, i have suffered this on many a old Hussmann pack!

If its a Frigrite rack with copeland comps chances are it is an old one and has a temprite oil separator - Andy's comments are valid
