I am attempting to start a new project. I would like to build a working model gas/propane refrigerator.

I have successfully built three working scale model (1/12 and 1/8 scale) live steam engines but they are all ‘open systems’ and am ready to move on to something a little more challenging. Perhaps 1/4 or 1/2 scale for a refrigerator unit.

I understand and respect high temp and high pressure so my biggest new concern or learning curve would be the toxic nature of the NH3.

I have researched and downloaded articles, manuals and text books on the subject but most are theory only. I have the tools to machine any parts required and am able to do whatever math is needed for the ammonia/water “recipe”

I’m also aware that there are several manufacturers currently marketing products and the technology has been around for years but my dilemma is that any actual plans or schematics seem to be a better kept secret than the A-bomb!

Any input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
