i recently went to a job where the customer had switched the machine on and ran it for 3 days with ofn in it instead of 404a. what can be done to save it?

Hello.
Test the motor windings resistance, "high pot" - when it is cooled down, check oil level, make a short start with current measurement, if it is found that the motor had survived, complete all the necessary putting to work procedures on the machine.

Thanks Yuri .
The compressor was extremely hot.
It was vacced out and then recharg but still extremely hot . would you expect the comp to be irreparably damaged

if it was a new system you would expect the clixen or another overheat /overcurrent device to save the comp

3 days would probably cause irreprable? damage to the windings. there is no cure. it would cause the oil to breakdown and spread around the system depending on the oil recovery method. dare i ask why it wasn't locked off?

Thanks for the reply.
It was switched back on after a pressure test, by one of the shop staff . They were told not to touch it by my colleague. I went there to repair the leak he found as he couldnt repair it there and then as it is in an airport and needed hot works permit to be issued first.
He should have made it impossible to switch on though,
once again
many thanks
