hi all, about the question , brine freezers. when I was 20 years old I joined the merchant navy, working in the outward leg I worked in the engine room . on the homeward leg I was told that I was to be made up to 3rd fridge eng < my introduction into refrigeration< the ships where refrigeration cargo ships, the fridge consisted of a halls single piston comp running on co2 and brine was the secondary refrigeration my first impression was not conplymentary to ship or equipment, but we got home without sinking < this time< this was in 1968

Would not be easy if you describe your application. What kind of brine do you need? Tem-re range?

The brine freezers I am familiar with are usually a tank about 12 feet long and 8 feet wide with a center divider and a propeller to circulate salt brine around. One side has a flooded refrigeration coil of steel pipe and baskets of Crab or other seafood are set in with a hoist. You can hold about 0 degrees F and freeze very quickly.
Could not find a picture, but will look for one later.

so much thanks for your answers guys i have to compute a brine freezeer of 6 Tm/h with a flooded refrigeration coil somebody has any information for that ( books, files, drawing, diagramas, etc) i hope that you can help me.

I still continue with this project and i have calculated tubes from flooded coil it's around 3980 m of tube of 1 1/4" but now i need to do the tube layout and i don't know how i should do this layout. somebody can give me some advices for this.

Hi guys!Brine is the chiller or the device that the working temperature is under 0 degrees Celcius!That devices uses liguids that can affort that temperatures!

luis The brine freezer in my plant has a seperate shell and tube chiller. The brine is pumped from the freezer through the chiller and returns to the freezer. C.D.

hi guys what happen if i use pipe 1 1/4" of sch40 for this brine freezer because i've seen in some manuals that for pipes below of 1 1/2" have to be sch80 the conditions are:

Evaporating temperature : -23ºC
Discharge temperature: +35ºC
Refrigerant: NH3
