In the manual it says to remove the air filter and pour water into the drain pan.

Where are you suppose to pour the water? I don't see a metal pan as such, more like a plastic slide.

Remove filters and pour water onto the evaporator coil. The water will "stick" to the coil and fall into the drain tray below. Yes the drain is plastic. Try to pour the water on the left end of the evap. so it will flush the tray towards the drain hose on the right.

DO the method above with power off as you will find it will go everywhere.
Nice and slowley.

Is it leaking water?
does it smell?
IFno to above then let it be:confused:

I tend to use a plastic drinking cup.

Hold the lip of the cup against the coil fins and slowly tip the water in.

Use a torch to watch it drain out of the outlet at the other end.

Is it safe to use pour bleach into the drain pan in a Daikin split air con to clean the drain pipe from time to time?

Yes, no problem at all.

No not off topic.

I have seen many people clean the front drain pan assembly without cleaning the rear pan. If this isn't cleaned and is full of dirt water will leak through the fan.

Also have seen many units with cracks in the rear pan.

Temprite, you are quite correct, and the same applies to certain other models, namely the LG artcool where failure to clean behind the coil and drain pan will result in water droplets being thrown into the room....

croc1774, was of course taking the pi** with his 'off topic' posting - I suspect some vague reference to the human anatomy - 'back passage' perhaps?
