Hi there,

I have a problem with a Grasso RC612E compressor, the following happens: When the compressor shifts over to another cylinder you hear a mechanical vibration and then a loud bang, what could it be?

Thanks for every solution and/or tip

Ben

Hi Ben.
Whatever it is it sounds bad. Its a pure guess based on the limited information you give.
But my gut feeling is, It could be Valve Failure related so the bang could be the Buffer spring operating or Severe Mechanical play etc etc.
Basically the list is pretty large.
The best bet would be to strip the relevant Cylinder Head/s.
And inspect for Damage / wear!
So for not being to specific but your problem could be lots of things.
There is only one way to find out.
Brilliant avatar by the way!
Cheers Grizzly

Hi KosmisB:)
any Grasso can be quite harsh on the loading. It may be a fault, has the discharge temperture become a lot higher than normal (this will indicate mechanical damage).
It could be just the loading oil pressure is set too high. You need a special gauge with a quick fit to set the oil pressure for the loading, which does run a lot higher than the shaft oil pressure.
Consult Grasso to get the gauge and a manual.

Kind Regards Andy :)
