The chiller appears to be tripping out on HP after a few seconds running, have a look and see what you think

This guy also has a lot of vid of cut open compressors that are worth checking out :)

overcharged...

Not sure, but the hp seems to go straight into what looks like a reversing valve ( can`t see why a chiller would have one though) could well be a restriction there as the hp rises so quickly.

I wanted to see how fast the low pressure gauge goes up after it tripped but he moved the camera.

I don't think it is over charged.

There could be a problem in the 4 way valve.
I wish he could show pressure reading on the discharge line after the 4 way valve. That could help a lot.

I would have check the 4 way valve first.

In a second thought, there could be air in the system.

hi i tend to agree this looks like a case of over charging or possibly a major blockage like a bad solonoied valve!!!

The high side climbs very quickly. I would think the reversing valve is stuck half way blocking the discharge line. Any blockages down stream of the condensor would let the system 'pump down'

Turns out it was the reversing valve control board that was faulty :)

The board or the valve?

Hi Monkey Spanners.
watched the video and noted the copper end of actuating slide has been whacked and dented in, this could be source of problem , not allowing full travel and partially blocking restricking hot gas path.

Also check that there are no dents in copper barrel of slide actuator that will restrict full travel as well.
A picture is worth a thousand words, videos are excellent if quick with pause button.
