Hi Graham.
I don't have any tech data but Carrier 38 series units are all Air Cooled condensing unit. The "Q" means it's a heat pump, 36/036 means 36,000 btu/hr (nominal) & 903 means it's 3phase. It should be hooked up to a 40 series indoor unit of some description (e.g. ducted or Cassette). Carrier have withdrawn their "residential & Light commercial" products from sale in mainland Britain so your best best for further info is:
Split DX Systems
Tel: 02890 483 671 ( Belfast )
Fax: 02890 487 870
Hope this helps.
