Samsung SRS-S2028CVW fridge/freezer warming upn

My samsung fridge freezer is showing set temperatures on the panel but inside temperature are rising.

I have tried 30 sec reset function by switching the power off and than turning it back on, the panel show an error code 88 can someone tell me what this error code is?

The correct warm temperatures are than displayed and the compressor starts up and the set temperatures are achieved but after few hours the inside temperatures start to rise.

Any advise as to what the problem is?

Usual fault is the defrost heater fails,appliance always shuts down and only kicks in when re started manually.

Is the changing defrost heater a specialist function?

No,it's a fairly simple matter of removing false back inside freezer and exchanging,clips on throughout the evaporator and although it looks difficult at first glance take your time,no sharp tools, as evap is delicate,try and do as much with fingers as you can.Electrically the new one just plugs in.
Would be worth checking resistance of the old one first,unplug and check for a resistance of approx 200/220ohms,if open circuit it proves it is the culprit.

Thank you for all the advice and with the acquisition of a service manual I will be able to replace the heater. It was interesting from reading the manual that there is a self diagnosis section where all the sensors main function can be tested but i am at loss what A/S means in the quoted paragraph.

"open & short related problem of sensor needs to be confirmed during A/S, turn off the power of Refrigerator and turned it on again to operate self-Diagnosis function."

Could be auto search,sometimes the translation in the manuals is a "different"!
