Need some advice. Have an ASCON unit with problems. First some history. On a previous visit we have replaced the pipework for the condensate to stop it flooding the bathroom (ascon A5L C25CR ducted type). Yesterday the unit was giving problems again..this time no heating. Tried on cooling and found low on R410a so started to top it up and found a massive leak. After repairing the leak (fractured pipe from the compressor) recharged and while testing the unit we checked incoming voltage....175V!! Yes a tad low. Long story about electrics as it is still on builders supply but now we are on 220v (changed over to another phase supply) cooling is spot on. However in heating mode its a failure. The interior fan motor is slow to cut in and cuts out early (B4 compressor) hence tempurature and pressures go through the roof. Now is it the coil sensor faulty or a problem with the circuit board? Any ideas. Think the fracture was caused by low voltage causing excessive vibration of the compressor. Voltage is constant now.

Hi Coffeebreak.
Follow the link below and download the Technical Manual link at the bottom of the page.
It has wiring diagrams etc.
I would like you suspect the coil temp probe?
Which you should be able to prove with careful use of an applied heat source!
Good luck Grizzly

Problem solved. Temperature probe proved o.k. We tested the unit on fan only and hey presto the fan cut out after a few minutes, after removing the condensate pan we found the motor running very hot. Replaced motor and now unit is fine. Think that the low voltage (over a period of time) could have caused the motor to break down, hence the motor cutting out on overload then the pressures go through the roof and we end up with an overloaded compressor and a ges leak.

Well done CB and thanks for the update.
