water chiller 13 kw r 22 ***** when operating at that time its expansion valve is forming ice . i check gas is ok can any one help to solve this problem. thanks.

If the TEV lost some of the charge, it will close and the evaporating temp will drop, forming ice.

Check also for any restrictions before the TEV, drier or any valve half closed?

The pipe after the TXV should be insulated. Or is it covered in ice itself?

For me, ice formation is not a symptom of bad operation. It depends on the design evaporating temperature.

Ice on the pipe after the the TEV indicates that evaporating temp is below 0°C.

On water chillers it is dangerous, On glycol chillers its OK.

No, as long as circulation is present and leaving water temperature is greater than 0°C.
There are plenty of bad and cheap chillers evaporating below 0°C

What type of TXV/TEV is it ? MOP?
