Hi,

Has anybody heard of R134a+?
Couldn't find any information about it on google, just some forum posts hinting that it's some alternative for R12.

Thanks.

I have not come across R134a+ before however I have used R134UV mobile and R134a mobile before. You can get info on them from DuPont. We were retrofitting some temporary ac systems at the time.

R134a is a common gas, is not a heavy duty gas. mostly for small comercial fridges like bar fridges. runs half the pressure of R404A

I'd imagine that they have a 'additive' gas to lower the R134a head pressures.

Wonder if its propane?

Many of the shipping containers I work on are 134a.

I believe 134a is pure, as in not a mix of different refrigerants.

^ How can R134a+ make its claims then, unless it is a blend of R134a & some other 'additive'?

You are best using SP34E if you require a replacement for R12 as it will go into a system that has mineral oil R134a will not.

Here in Australia we used to have a replacement gas for R12 car Ac which was a blend of R134a & Propane about 10%

Yep, it's a pure gas, namely 1.1.1.2 Tetrafluoroethane.

I wonder if this R134a+ has anything to do with this :-

A lot of R134a gas for Asia comes from either China, or India.

The question is whether these gases are the 'real' R134a, or a combination of gases manufactured to give similar performance to R134a.

How would the end-user be able to tell the difference?

R-134 is ozone friendly Refrigerant while R-12 is carbon based Refrigerant which is going to remove by end of 2010 from markete.
134a is replacement of R-12 but while switching the refrigerant from R-12 to R-134a lot of factor has to be consider, As for Refrigerant oil the oil used with R-134a is entirly diffrent by its properties then the oil used for R-12

If z2TT has diffrent question I mean
R-134a+ then I have never heard about R-134a+,
