Help required fitting a GAH Unit to a Van

Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I deliberated for all of 20 seconds before I put it here....

I have just bought a Used GHA Unit (Ebay item number 250529563149 )

I want to fit this to my JIffy Sandwich van which has some kind of Bar and Plate Very old style 240v Refrigeration system.


QUESTION: Can I fit this pretty much myself and get a fridge engineer in to check everything and re-gas it?

ANy pointers.

I would ask you, can you fit it?

If you can fit it, or if you think you are capable of fitting it and you have all the tools to do it then

Yes you can fit it!!

Bear in mind that the compressor will need fitting to the engin and will need a belt drive to the engin fly wheel.

If you are a competant mechanic and or engineer then the fitting will be posible.

But I would suggest that if you need to ask you may not quite be up to the install. Your choice. You could do it and then you could then get a fridge engineer to finalise the job and correctly charge the system with refrigerant.

Yes I think Im mechanically up to the job, As for the compressor I will have to get a custom belt made I imagine as the pulley is bigger than the standard AC option, not exactly trick.

Not even sure why I was asking.... guess it was just for piece of mind as Ive never done one before.

One questions, as te system came off a slightly different van, the compressor pipes may not reach, are they anything specialist? Ie is it only refrigeration places that can make them up - what sort of price should I look at paying

something to consider is when the engine is off so is the fridge,new brackets will be needed unless you can utilise the air con compressor what make and model is your vehicle,the pipes will have to be made to lengh ,any hydraulic hose outlet [pirtek]are good,was thjs second hand GAH system all sealed if not you may have a major moisture issue.

Thats good.

If you feel up to it, go for it.

The hoses are not special, other than they are refrigerant resistant :D

Any hydrolic hose manufacturer should do (not sure of the cost) but the internal diameter is very important. do not go larger than the large suction pipe or smaller than the small liquid pipe.

Hello,

the kit itself should not be to difficult to fit with soem care and attention, a key area for you will be the engine compressor mount kit, if the system is a direct drive unit.
