Are you referring to the condensing unit which generally classified into air-cooled and water-cooled system?
Air-cooled is further divided into Air-cooled package and Aircooled split. Whilst the previous has condensing unit and air-conditioning equipment are combined together whereas aircooled split has split up their condensing unit and air conditional equipment.

Water-cooled chilled system are more complicated as it comprises the condensing unit cooling tower and the air-conditioning equipment.

Air cool chiller is much much batter then water cool chiller in normal case.Air cool chiller require less space to install,require less electricity,less maintenance,over all more profitable then water cool chiller.But for large cooling load water cool chiller is more profitable.Air cool chiller is batter where cooling laod is less then320 or equal to 320.Over this laod water cool chiller is preferable.
