Hi.
Currently working on a vessel in US gulf and have recently detected acid in the oil for a semihermetic screwcompressor. The test kit used was intended for mineral oil based refrigerant oils and not poly ester oils as used on this compressor.
Does this affect the test result in any way?

There are specific test kits for POE, i think POE can give a false positve in mineral test kits, so i'd be testing again with the correct kit.

a kit for POE oils will take into acount the higher water containt in POE oils. If you use a kit for mineral oil to test POE oil you will find a acid, because the acitivor for acid is water.
