Hi, there just a newbie.
Wondering on a heat pump with air handler, if when the outdoor heat pump is place high on a roof (say 25ft) would you have to trap both lines or just the suction. Also what is the standard pressure test for 410a system on a heat pump.

Hello. Presumably the pipe run is under the permissable maximum. If its a Daikin or the like, no traps required are required.

Sorry. strength test high side 41 bar. Consult spec for low side.

For almost any split system made in Japan there would be no requirment for any oil traps.
The manufacturer should always specify what tube size to install & any requirment for oil traps.

Most R410a split systems have HP trip at around 41 bar.
So if for example the AHU air flow is reduced or stops in heat mode then the system could run right up to 41 bar & stop on the HP safety cut out switch. In this instance the installed interconnecting tube would be exposed to 41 bar pressure.

In UK we work to BS EN378.
So we make breif strength test of arround 41 to 43 bar & then a longer 24 hr leak test at arround 33 bar.
