I looking for an evap fan motor for a 69 NT-40 specifically a 54-00507-00. Carrier want just under $1000.00 for one motor. I need to find a sane alternative for this motor. Does anyone know where to get a new or properly re-manufactured motor in the US?

Take it to a motor rewind company.

Can your motor shop find an equivalent? If the motor still has the nameplate on it they should be be able to. The important thing is to find out what is different on the OEM motors, most of the time they just use a low twmp grease, maybe a special shaft length or HD windings.

The 54-00507 duel voltage is $833.71 the 54-00513-00sv duel speed is $823.06. both list prices

You can use the duel speed in place of the duel voltage there is a tech bullitin to deal with that. the point is you might have better luck getting a used duel speed and increase your options. Used duel voltage motors are getting a bit thin on the ground now. another option if it's a static container is to use a 3 phase motor, all 3 phases are up there in the evap section, just means a bit of buggering about with it. i have used all the above options in the past and it does work
