I worked on a Glycol solar heat exchanger loop once.. meant for use in heat season with a heat pump... had a solar powered pump motor as well.... but abandonedthe project when I found that in Ohio it had to be bright and sunny for there to be enough solar energy in winter to gain any at all for efficiency....

in summer i suppose its possible to easily generate enough electricity to run the condensor fan and charge batteries for such.. but I found the start current on a compressor very high and wasnt able to build anything that could start a standard compressor as well as remain efficient at low energy...

this was before i did anything with inverter compressors... was probably 10 years ago.... so im guessing there are more improvements now...

what part of A/C are you looking to use solar for? power? heat exchangers? fan motors?
