Is an oil filled radiator more efficient than a conventional heater ? That is, is latent heat of oil somehow utilised in the former ? - as inside it there takes place oil evaporation, condensation, and return to the point of evaporation (due to the force of gravity).

I am afraid it is not.

Does the oil actually evaporate ?

I thought that they were fully filled and it was simple convection when the oil is heated by the heat source.

Efficient-no way, one Kw in, one Kw out, only advantage is the thermal storage of the oil, turn it off and stays warm for a while.

I remember how in the past the common opinion was that they are more efficient than simple heaters. I also belived it was truth.

If you want to do space heating by recovering heat from the oil, that's fine. Otherwise pointless.
