We have encountered thermal trip of our copeland 25hp compressor (R404A). And what we notice that an excessive amount of solvent on the suction side.

And the current is exceeding the maximum. and body of compressor is heating to much,

What we do this morning is to close the valve until we reach the 10psi at the max current as per nameplate.

By that we, suspected that the expansion valve was deffective.

Is this TRUE and did we guessing only.

Thanks
Sorry for some term 'coz im an electronics personnel

Hello. Assuming "solvent" = refrigerant, what is meant by "excessive amount" of it (on the suction side)? Suction pressure was high?
Is the unit stopped already and a ref engineer/technician found ?

hi there tiongsof u should get some tech to look at your system and tell u whats wrong instead of guessing this actully might save u money on the long run !!

Thanks Yuri B/Goshen.

Our Hot\Cold chambers are using R23 and R404 (Cascade Unit),
Until now we are not convince on what remedy we done.

Already check/adjust expansion valve the motor sensor of compressor still it trip (Temperature).

What we have done is to open halfway the valve on the sunction side machine runs and can reach up to -50ºC and with a ramp rate of 10ºC,
Till this day it runs w/o any thermal trip,

I dont know if that the good remedy or it will damage the compressor?
our maxhiine is 15uears of ages.
