How have you got this far without understanding a gas bottle valve ?

A bottle contains refrigerant in liquid form at the bottom with vapour on top.

The draw out liquid with a single valve fitted you would need to turn the bottle upside down. If you want only vapour then leave it stood upright.

With a twin valve top fitted the vapour voutlet draws from the top of the tank. The liquid side however has a dip tube fitted extending to the bottom of the tank; so, when you open the valve you draw liquid from the bottom.

Picture of valve here but note that it hasn't had the extended tube fitted yet, that would be done bu the gas tank company.

Can't you just draw it.

A cylinder is just that, a container.
The valve is just a brass fitting that has 2 ports.
One port connects to the top of the cylinder for vapour.
The other port is connected to a dip tube that goes to the bottom of the cylinder for the liquid.

Hey tomlinson.
Well done for asking what to many of us would seem a simple question.
But as they say it is only simple if someone has given you the answer!!
You keep asking the questions!
After all there is only so much any training can impart!
Generally those guys do a brilliant job in the limited amount of time they have.
I would imagine the Training now includes large parts of "legalise".
With lots of rules telling you what you cannot do.
There are not that many that will tell you how.

And the basics can be missed!

That's why this site can be brilliant!
