I note that our other erstwhile 'fridge forum is off line and has been all week.
Is this permanent or too much to hope for?

Looks like the domain expired on the 29th September. It is currently in the 'redemption period'
Can't remeber exactly what that means, but i think it is the time the existing holder gets to renew the name.
