Hi guys,

In order to become an air con engineer, it seems very hard to get an apprenticeship. Can I pay for the training?

There is a site, OLCI, which is for plumbers and you pay them around£7K and they train you. Anything similar for the A/C Engineers?

Everything has a price...

If you were in Nottingham, I could train you for £20,000 :D

Only Joking.

Training isn't just about the cost in £'s, you need to make sure that you are getting the right sort of training, i.e. does the person offering the training have the right sort of experience as well as credentials?
Do you get to learn the whole spectrum of the trade? workshop, theory, H & S etc?
Is the training spread over a reasonable amount of time?
Short courses may pack in a lot of information, but most of it will not be absorbed due to information overload.

More questions than answers i'm afraid.

Thanks Frank.

I just feel there is no chance of an apprenticeship right now.

Do you know of any courses in Scotland? (Good Ones!)

Have you tried contacting Star refrigeration, they are based in Scotland, excellent company, they might be able to point you in the right direction if they can't help.

Cheers
