Is there such a patented refrigation system which can operate a storage room either as a cold room (+5 deg C) or as a freezer (-18 deg C) at the touch of a button. I can think of different ways of organising a refrigeration system to do this, but can one buy a system already designed for that purpose ?

Harry who,
money can do anything so long as you are prepared to spend.
Did a couple for the AirForce here, worked sweet as, expensive though.
Don't now about patents, as is regular refrigeration design, sorry bud. Check out regular transport refrig., systems and similar. Flick a switch between fresh or frozen.

Yes there are systems ready to use type made by Zanotti/ Technoblock etc & we have used them as well.

If you are concerned about patents then you should check with the Patent Office also.

Fairly common in supermarkets using "dual temp" cases. The switch energizes a bypass solenoid around an EPR and allows the case to run at compressor suction pressure (low temp). Release the bypass and the EPR will modulate and hold the pressure up in the evaporator and increase its SST.

i guess there no problem of opert condensing unit for both +5 or -18 c as far there is heater inside the evaporatore and time for defrost should be evry 6 working hours
