Trane Chillers

Have a trane Chiller ECGCD206 on R22
need advice on drop in refrigerants for this chiller was considering Isceon 59 do not want to change oil.
would appreciate your comments if you have
carried this.(Do trane still have a technical depatment?)

What's Isceon 59? R422d?

If so you will need to change the oil!

Pretty sure the oil will have to be changed ive not heard of isceon 59. If it can be done let me know got a couple of Trane chillers on R22 that will need changing soon. Trane do have a technical department but they always seem to be busy or out of the office try ringing 01925623660 and they should find you somebody to talk to

Trane do not support any " Drop in " refrigerant conversions. The standard supported operation is to Retrofit to R404a-including oil flushes, TEV change, o-rings drier cores and PRV`s.

Hello freecool which compressors are on these chillers,because the old recipes which are 75hp-100hp have internal o rings in the loading cages and if they swell up with chemical reaction then you,ll have to strip the machine down.ihav,nt seen any on diffrent gas, so its best to speak to trane for guidance

Isceon 59 - R-417a

You want to change the gas, you have to change the oil and do some retrofitting on the machine :(
If you're not going to change the oil, be prepare of what is going to happen next as to what has been just indicated by Ghaz.

Depends on the application but Isceon 29 (R422d) is the gas for chillers. Isceon 59 is for DX- it operates at higher temps than a chiller ( DX runs at 18-25degrees, a chiller at 6-10degrees. Typically). Isceon 29 will work on Mineral. Sometimes you may need to change some components for larger ones and some seals as well.

Trane will not advise on a drop-in. They will ask unit details and site location and then submit a quotation for their own engineers to carry out the work.
