Starter Transition

Hi

Working on a trane chiller basicly have changed the condensers and placed new modules now on start up it goes through the cycle and when the unit is supposed to start the error code that comes up is Starter Transition, did not have much time to check it, any ideas what this could be will be going to the site in short while.

hi if it is a star delta check your wiring on your contactors and inputs to the controler make sure u programed the the right sequence of starter type for the chiller

have checked the termination all is correct have checked the modules on another unit all are working ok anyadvise will be appriciated

hi there if as u said it is part winding check the contacts from the second contactor of the part winding which gives feedback to the controller i assume it is a ucp2 controler

Sorry did not specify earlier but The model No of the chiller is TRTAB212. Thanks Goshen will check the second contactor again thanks.

HI, Check That contacts across J3 3+4 ( A-20 Module)close when second contactor is energised. Also check that all neutrals are conected and continuous. Check that the Hp switch has not operated on the second stage. Good luck.

Hi Guys

Thanks to Goshen for service settings manual and abdulazman for suggesting about the manuals. this is where am at at the moment the first compressor starts with one of part winding contactors of the compressor energizing and switches off after about 5 seconds and 2nd compressor starts and runs well have set all according to manual. Could there be anything else i may have missed out am not having power from Module A20 -J7 -6

check your current transformers and check for a loose or dissconnected neutral wire on the contactor , and correct wire connectiones to the module outputs

From the module A20 J7- 3 sends power to one contactor and the second get power from J7 - 6

hi u could change starter cardes between the circuites and see if the problem is the card
just mark the dip switches on the cards

i have tried that and the card works fine on another unit i have a feeling it is related to settings but i may be wrong

is the unit configured as two circuits ?
i still insist it sounds like a wiring problem

yes it is configured as 2 circuits

then all that is left is wiring !!! or a faulty contactor
assuming all else is ok as u said u interchanged card s and it works?

Have you checked your HP switch??
Have you got power at X2-3 and X2-12 ??
If not your HP switch is faulty.

Yes thanks for advise but am sure you do remember if the HP is disconnected nothing would run.

Have a dumb question could it be Dip Switch Settings as at moment have set Module A20-1 all Off and A20-2 123&5 on and 4 off any ideas pls advise.

Hi All

Have managed to get this unit started over the weekend the problem was no contact on the Module A20 J7-5 although the conductor was there it was not making contact so circuit was not complete. I would like to give a big thank you to all for all the support and assistance you have given to me. Thanks A Lots.
