View Full Version : trane rtad 125 chiller, reverse phase issue

hi all, im working on a trane chiller at present.circuit 1 hasnt been working for years so loads of fun. pressure tested,vac and weighed in new gas.had hp issue on controller without system 1 running, reset hp switch.this seemed to solve problem and comp kicked in.isolated unit to put electrical covers back on, now controller displaying reverse phase detection? any pointers would be helpfull thank you

Is this option even installed or did you enable it when the option is not present?

hi, its a reverse phase detection device alarm that is showing on control. spoke to trane technical and the guy on the phone seems to think it could be any electrical fault issue. going to change dual hp switch, to eliminate this.asked trane about linking hp switch out, seems you cant link this type out according to trane.all 3 phases are in right order if this helps.first contactor kicks in but fault before second contactor can kick in. thanks for replys

Check that the Current transformer connections are good and that the ct`s resistances are balanced. Alternatively swap the compressor modules between the circuits. If the problem is transported to the other circuit the fault is with the module. Good Luck

Usually the HP pressostat is a double one. There are two reset switches, one on top, the second on the front, when you remove the cover.

How many CT's are there in the chiller and what type is it?
