Hi :)

This may have been covered allready on the forum,is everyone aware of the proposals from 6 April 2007 by the IR.
The driver must choose whether to use his van for private use,or not.
Those choosing not to use the van privately will incur no additional tax cost.
Those who choose to use van for private use will be hit hard by the tax office  .

"From 6 April 2005 a nil charge will apply to employees who have to take their van home and are not allowed other private use .Where private use is unrestricted the existing £500 or £350 scale charge will apply dependant upon the age of the van .From 6 April 2007 the discount for older vans will be removed and the scale charge for unrestricted private use will increase to £3000".

What a bummer

Self employed van drivers are not affected by these rules.

I refer ro my previous comment. :D

At the end of the day i am not going to get worked up about it. These canges are due in 2007, we are now in 2004 and that gives the government 3 years to change it's mind again.

Also, there is an election due due next year, how many white van mans can Tony Blair afford to loose.
