Help!

I have an old Gram fridge [very reliable upto now].
Recently, over the last 12months, ice forms on the back of the inside wall of the fridge. The ice is about 0.5cms thick now & covering almost 80% of the height of the internal rear wall.
We have totally defrosted & cleaned the fridge both inside & out in January 2009 & also last week. Within 2days ice had formed again inside the fridge.
We have tried turning the Temerature down but to no avail, though it appears that the thermostat is working since the motor stops if it is turned right down.
Previously, the Thermostat was set at about 2 o'clock position without any ice forming but now it is turned down to about 11 o'clock position but the ice has not de-frosted. There is no apparent damage to the door seals either.

Your help & advice will be much appreciated.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Is there a fan on the inside like a K400?
Sounds like the stat is goosed.

Thanks for your response.

No - there is no fan inside the fridge.

Also, what should be the right temperature at the Top & Bottom shelve of the fridge ? The fridge(only) is about 5ft tall.

as you said that compressor is cutting off when thermostat position in made towards less cool.
This fridge might have some timer or microprocessor to autodefrost which have gone faulty
needs to check it and replace it
