View Full Version : Blow moulding & injection moulding heat loads

Hi all,

I have to size a chiller for several injection moulding and blow moulding machines. There are a few rules of thumb I have found on the net on how to calculate a heat load such as 150Kcal/kg/hr (PET). I was wondering if anyone had experience of sizing chillers for this application and what formula they use for the heat load calc.

For the injection moulding machines I know the kg/hr of PET being used and that the inital plastic temp is 250C. I dont know the ejection temp though, I think it may be around 40C. Are there any other heat inputs I need to consider.

The mouldings from the injection machines are used in the blow moulding process. Can I use the same formula to calculate the heatloads for these machines. I'm not sure whart the temps are for this process.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Its my first post so if a simmilar question has already been posted.... sorry.

Cheers,
Matt
