I am trying to figure out how to properly size a filter drier for a refrigerations system. I am looking to know how much desiccant is needed for several refrigerators that use small charges, 3 to 12 ounces R134a. Is there any easy way to figure out how much dessicant is actually needed for these systems? Thanks

The manufacturer mostly states in his manuals for what capacity its filters are designed.
If you had a very good vacuum, then the smallest one will do the job perfect.

I agree with Peter 1, replace what was fitted originally, any thing bigger will act as a receiver and starve system and create issues in the off cycle, as in flooding evap., and create problems.
