HI,

Very interested in feedback / suggestions concerning replacing old Gas Fired Central Heating (Rads) and hot water system...??

Considering Air / Water heat pump System for DHW, underfloor heating (No rads). I do not have the ground for Ground source

Bungalow has double Glasing, Cavity Wall (filled) and will have improved loft insulation. I appreciate that I will need to carry out various heat lose calculations.

Having read some threads I see there is a good following for the Daikin Altherma... any others...?? What about Alpha-innotec, Stiebel Eltron... other Systems..?

What about the Air / Water Heat pumps indoor installations... How do they compare to the outdoor ones, noise maintenance, cost etc.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there,

it may be worth looking at the stiebel eltron website or contacting one of their specification managers listed on their site, as I believe they would do a system spec for your property free of charge.

Taken from the Danfoss web site....

Installation of Air Source Heat Pumps
Please note that the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps within existing buildings should be approached with further advice being sought. Danfoss Heat Pumps UK specialise in New Builds, Complete Renovations, Barn Conversions & Commercial Developments. We do not cater for Existing Dwellings unless a Complete Renovation is being planned.

In my opinion, the Altherma is the market leader at the moment

Get a new condensing boiler and rads.!!

The sheer cost of these systems size and their vastly overrated performance figures mean a very long payback period.

When do you need hot water/heating the most -winter.
When are they the least energy efficient-winter.

For all the hard sell BS, in all honesty:

Wait till your next boiler needs replacing then the efficiency may be up to making them worthwhile.

if you have the requirement of replacing what you currently have with another high temperature, daikin now have an air source heat pump Daikin Altherma High temperature which can run to temperatures of up to 80 degrees if required.

To be honest I have been in the heat pump trade for 5 years its what i specialise in and from my experience the running costs do not stack up against Gas. I do however know of a large range of units that operate similar to the dakin units without the marketing budget but work just as good with a similar level of control.

please let me know if i can be of any assistance.

What installation is inside? If you will have a Underfloor heating, contact Velta UK. Please put enought insulatuion on the ground floor(ca 50mm EPS) because you dont want to heat a Japan. Secondly, do the design for a DT of 5 maximum. Check what is minimal outdoor temperature and than look for that conditions what is the maximum temperature of the heat pump. Stiebel is quite OK and i know that they know what they are doing but check also the Dimplex. In England is also Viessman available. Get few offers and than chose
