My first choice will Silicon Bronze rod for TIG welding. Because you have 90% of Cu you do not want to introduce too much of the new material to the mixture.

I was thinking again about the material for welding. I think that TIG welding will be better choice than brazing, more localize heat. Monel rod will be a very good material for the application.

Silver rods with at least 30% AG in it, that's how we do it since years. Place wet rags on the HE, direct flame away from HE, use a big flame (due to the wet rag)

im with peter,penetration is required for good strength otherwise we would have been butt welding long ago
