Hello
I recovered a Daikin wall unit FTXS71BVMB with the outdoor RXS71BVMB which was smoke damaged from a renovation job we just finished, so i'm going to butcher this up to heat water for my house.
I will mount the condenser unit on the rear wall and come through to the Hot water cylinder and put in a heat exchanger.

Has anyone done this before and how did the controls work out.

Good luck!
You will have to try and graft the the wall split controller to your heater but think of the following. The indoor coil is not normally designed to operate above about 55degC and the Room temperature about 30degC at the highest. The indoor pcb also has a DC fan motor and will bring up errors if this is left unplugged as it has a feedback signal coming from the motor.

very interesting, the unit will go into fault as you will not be able to control the indoor coil temperature, good luck with it though.
Let us know how you get on.

You would probably have more of a chance if you used a non inverter.
